Today four people were interviewed for the Captain position that is open in my region. Tomorrow we will be told who was chosen for to be our new Captain.
Several scenarios are possible AND since this is my personal space and opinion, here is my guess:
Roger is new Captain leaving a Lieutenant opening at HQ. DL transfers to the HQ Lt. slot leaving a Lt. vacancy in my area. I promote to Lt. in Beaumont and then can retire in 3 years instead of three months. Th' ham goes back west and the pit stays put.

One More Picture!

And th' heat goes on!!! Lovely summer. The brown leaves mingling with the dead brown grass looks sooooo pretty. Wonder what the temps will be next summer - and the next??? The Northpole is the only place where one might find cool temperatures. I know people who in the 1960's moved to "summer homes" in Colorado to get away from the East Texas hot weather. HA!

A small Gulf of Mexico storm is pushing lots of rain into SE Texas for the next few days. Might get as much as 10-12 inches. The temperature is much more comfortable as a result of the rain and clouds. Never satisfied!!!

We have been slightly busy painting the house. Just about done. The heat is absolutely unbearable, and we are adapted to it. You people in London should find a pool somewhere and live in it.

Another death in the family. Aunt Mae McClendon passed awat Saturday night. We will be traveling to Lufkin Monday evening and returning Tuesday evening. It is terrible that a funeral gets me some time off from work.

Another day of stress and overload. Notified today that I was included in a lawsuit! Wonderful day!! Tomorrow will be a repeat, no doubt!

Couldn't leave without at least one cartoon.

GEE WHIZ!! Had a homicide the 30th, an unattended death the 5th, and 12,800 inmates that could keep me out all night at any time. One investigator for 8 units that stretch across 90 miles of Gulf Coast and the boss says no help is available because the travel budget is shot. Okay, let's hope nothing happens that would normally require numerous investigators - such as a hurricane, another homicide, an escape, etc. - we could not respond because the agency could not pay the motel bills! Whoa! That means that this agency is basically shut down?? STG was told in last month's meeting to proceed with their investigations as though OIG did not exist. That is a good example of our reputation and ability to respond. Sad, isn't it! BUT, I'm told things are looking up! Yea, you bet.
